Newcastle is a fairly stiff galloping track. The oval course is 14f in length with a 4f run in.
The feature race today is the £15,000 William Hill Extra Places Every Day Handicap at 3.00pm.
The favourite is Royal Ascot, who has been in good form this season, winning twice and finishing second once in his last three starts.
However, I think the value bet could be Prince Of Pillo. He has been running well in defeat recently and is now down to a mark where he could be competitive.
Another horse to consider is Fort Bastion. He is a lightly-raced three-year-old who has shown some promise in his two starts to date.
The going is currently good to firm, so horses who like to get their toe in the ground may be at an advantage.
